Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 Ad Campaign | Various Models by Steven Meisel

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign, Steven Meisel

Shot by Steven Meisel, the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign follows the same concept as its runway show held a couple of months ago. The set design was created by artist Daniel Buren who created a similar checkerboard design for the show in Paris and will also be designing window displays for select Louis Vuitton stores.

The collection was inspired by Daniel Buren’s Les Deux Plateaux, a series of striped columns of different heights in Palais Royal. Marc Jacobs reinterpreted this with repetition and the manipulation of the Louis Vuitton Damier check that set the mood for an optical display of graphic elements. And, I guess that’s all that you need: visual excitement in simple silhouettes.

The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign by Steven Meisel stars (from left) Janice Alida, Athena Wilson, Bria Condon, Magdalena Jaesk, Ji Hye Park, Tian Yi, Ruby Jean Wilson, and Nastya Kusakina, who are all relatively new to the scene. One of them, Bria Condon, actually makes her debut in this campaign without any prior experience in editorials, campaigns or shows!

The campaign also bears a similar aesthetic to previous Prada ad campaigns that were shot by Steven Meisel as well. Those two, incidentally, are the ones to watch every season.

L’Invitation Au Voyage | Louis Vuitton’s First Ever Ad Campaign Video

Louis Vuitton presents L’Invitation Au Voyage, Louis Vuitton’s first ever ad campaign video, starring Arizona Muse and directed by photographer duo Inez and Vinoodh who also shot the print campaign. You would have thought that the world’s most valuable luxury brand would have gotten on the bandwagon eons ago.

Although it is not technically Louis Vuitton’s first film, it is the first ever ad campaign video to accompany the print ad campaign. This one chronicles Arizona Muse through iconic sights of Paris and up on a hot air balloon –no less.

Check out L’Invitation Au Voyage, Louis Vuitton’s first ever ad campaign video and the print ad campaign starring Arizona Muse below; better now than later I suppose.

Louis Vuitton X Yayoi Kusama Capsule Collection

Louis Vuitton X Yayoi Kusama Collection, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Yayoi Kusama

The first round of the Louis Vuitton X Yayoi Kusama collection has finally hit stores (15 July in Singapore) with the second drop featuring a fresh range of monogram leather goods to be released in October. Inspired by 83-year-old artist Yayoi Kusama’s uncanny knack of using dots in her artworks, the Louis Vuitton X Yayoi Kusama collection is basically a subtly bold, fun and graphic collection that features an insane amount of dots, encompassing ready-to-wear, accessories and leather goods.

There is something very attractive and appealing about collaboration collections that entices you to collect those highly sought-after items and this one is no different. The collection is available in limited quantities at selected Louis Vuitton outlets and is expected to match the popularity of previous Louis Vuitton-artist collaborations including Steven Sprouse in 2001, Takashi Murakami in 2002 and Richard Prince in 2007.

The Louis Vuitton X Yayoi Kusama collection is also the only collaboration to get multiple pop-up stores, namely in New York’s Soho, Hong Kong’s Pacific Place, Singapore’s Ngee Ann City, Tokyo’s Isetan Shinjuku branch, Ginza’s Dover Street Market, Paris’ Printemps and London’s Selfridges. The Printemps pop-up store will be a 860-square-feet space centred around Yayoi Kusama’s signature polka dots while the 1,375-square-feet Selfridges outlet will be decorated with her famous pumpkin sculptures and will also feature a 24-window display designed by Yayoi Kusama herself, making it the largest window transformation in the store’s history. The pop-up store in Singapore will open from 15 July to 1 November 2012. You do not want to miss this.

“…a polka-dot has the form of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm. Round, soft, colorful, senseless and unknowing. Polka-dots become movement… Polka dots are a way to infinity.” –Yayoi Kusama

“Her energy is just endless. Through the painstaking sort of obsession in each of her canvasses and installations that she’s created, you see this world that never ends. I guess that’s what I admire and that’s what I respond to in terms of feeling for her and for her work.” –Marc Jacobs

Louis Vuitton has outlets and fans all around the world and I hope, like with other collaborations, and expect, like other collaborations, that this will bring the work of Kusama to a new audience and that’s the audience of Louis Vuitton.” –Marc Jacobs

“It continues something I began when I came here which is the idea of art and collaboration, or collaboration with artists. For many people who don’t look at art or go to galleries, or maybe they’re not aware of Kusama’s work, there will be a new venue, a new place to see this work and to come to appreciate it through the eyes of Louis Vuitton.” –Marc Jacobs

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 Ad Campaign | Various Models by Steven Meisel

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 ad campaign, Julia Nobis, Franzi Müller, Mackenzie Drazan, Marie Piovesan, Ros Georgiou, Erjona Ala, Magda Laguinge, Marina Heiden, Elena Bartels, Hedvig Palm, Steven Meisel

The wealth and power of a mega brand that is Louis Vuitton, saw the $8 million train used for the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 show dismantled, shipped and reconstructed in a New York studio to serve as the perfect location for the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 ad campaign. Shot by Steven Meisel, the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 ad campaign stars Julia Nobis, Franzi Müller, Mackenzie Drazan, Marie Piovesan, Ros Georgiou, Erjona Ala, Magda Laguinge, Marina Heiden, Elena Bartels and Hedvig Palm.

Stephen Jones’ hats take centre stage once again, coupled with simple coat dresses embellished with ornate buttons, appliques and jewels with the elongated tent silhouette make this one fancy spectacle to look at. Even the porter we saw at the runway show back in March makes a cameo here.
