Vogue Italia September 2011 | Stella Tennant by Steven Meisel

Vogue Italia September 2011, Stella Tennant, Steven Meisel, Karl Templer

Stella Tennant stars in a bizarre editorial titled The Discipline of Fashion  and covers for Vogue Italia September 2011. Shot by Steven Meisel and styled by Karl Templer, the Stella Tennant for Vogue Italia September 2011 editorial is inspired by Ethel Granger, the girl with the smallest waist, measuring at just 13 inches. Her ultra thin waist was a product of years of wearing a corset. This and her facial piercings were a result of her husband’s peculiar fashion fetishes. Read more about Ethel Granger at vogue.it.

Vogue Italia has done it again, deviating from the norm with yet another thought-provoking and controversial editorial. I find this extremely disturbing but rest assured; on watching the behind-the-scenes video (scroll to the end of the post for the video), you would realise that Stella Tennant’s waist has been photoshopped a great deal. The corset probably also accounted for the somewhat weird poses that she does. Planking is also featured once again in a fashion spread here to my delight and amusement. Pretty anti-climax if you ask me.

With these stunning visuals, more often than not, the clothes are lost into oblivion. Stella Tennant wears Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci, Alberta Ferretti and Moschino among others. Check out the Stella Tennant for Vogue Italia September 2011 editorial and be sure to watch the behind-the-scenes video below to see for yourself. Read about the cover story at vogue.it.

Anne Hathaway | Interview Magazine September 2011

Anne Hathaway, Interview Magazine September 2011, Mert and Marcus, Karl Templer

Anne Hathaway fronts the cover of Interview Magazine September 2011 in a veil; hard to recognise her at first glance. Shot in black and white by (yes you guessed right) Mert and Marcus, and styled by Karl Templer, the accompanying editorial spread in Interview Magazine September 2011 features Anne Hathaway very much like a vamp from the Victorian period. I actually quite like this Gothic setting. Check out the Anne Hathaway for Interview Magazine September 2011 spread below.

This editorial features Lara Stone in the leading role and Frida Gustavsson in fall’s latest collections accompanied by actor Alexander Skarsgard. Styled by Grace Coddington, a subtle melodramatic story of a femme fatale entitled Spellbound is told through the lens of Peter Lindbergh with significant usage of low-key lighting. Enjoy!

Glad that they included a black and white photo, it wouldn’t be film noir without it. And I think I might just know what I want to do for my next collection for school. Love the calm grandeur and Lara’s alluring gaze. Kudos to the team for going one up; a perfect complement to the cover.
